Clear and bright bronze colour with golden nuances. On the nose it ́s very characteristic, full of exotic woods notes, roasted dry fruits, nougat notes and spices. On the palate, it ́s sweet and concentrated, but at the same time fresh, leaves a long and warm aftertaste with notes of sugar canes molasses and spices.

Food-pairing
Walnut bread with manchego cheese and Spanish ham such as jamon de Serrano. Roasted duck with dark chocolate gravy

Grapes: Terrantez
Terrantez, this variety is dominant in Madeira, represents between 80 and 85% of wine production in Madeira. Grown in the south of the island between Funchal and Câmara de Lobos, and in the north at São Vicente. This Frasqueira, rich, is a one-year harvest. This wine was aged in barrels in the traditionally method called “Canteiro”. During the ageing process the wine is regularly evaluated in order to achieve the appropriate state of maturity to be bottled.

Store & Serve
Keep a Madeira wine always upright.
The acids of Madeira are so strong that they affect the cork when the bottle is kept lying down . Serve at 18 ° C

Madeira is a wine that matured in an oxidative environment for several years, and then comes to bottling in a reductive environment. It is therefore useful to open the bottles a few hours in advance. The bottles can then be preserved almost unlimited, as the air is no longer affecting Madeira wines. It is even so that after a few months the wine tastes better than when the bottle is just opened.

Critics & Awards
91/100 -The Wine Advocate Robert Parker
Bottled in 2020, Cossart Gordon's 1975 Terrantez opens in the glass with complex tertiary aromas of spices, beeswax furniture polish, dried fruits, Cognac, toasted pecans and brown sugar. Medium to full-bodied, deep and nicely layered, it's dry and elegantly austere, its structural bones poking through its mid-palate flesh.

18,5/20 - Jancis Robinson
Most of Madeira's rare Terrantez vineyards are found in Calheta, Câmara de Lobos and Funchal, on the south side of the island. TA 9.44 g/l, VA 1.14 g/l, pH 3.4, RS 95 g/l. Bottled 2020, the equivalent of just over 1,000 75-cl bottles.
Copper brown. Smells savoury-dark-sweet, like spiced nuts in treacle. The aroma is horizontal, a board, freshly planed wood, sandalwood. Then I put it in my mouth and my spine went curlicue. Waves of goosebumps. Voltage in silk in sherbet in ice in white-hot embers in anger in wild-wild-wild joy. Something almost bacon-like. Lime pickle. Saline, caper, ginger root, turmeric root. Dried apricots, chewy in its texture, sherbets in its acidity, so cracklingly alive that my skin felt like it was hovering millimetres above my body. Fireworks in the mouth. A exploding green line, the extreme essence of lime pulling a central cord from start to finish. Burnt sugar. Aloe. Laurel. Words, for wines like this, are like taking photographs of sunrises. Why we bother is a testament to our longing to share something beautiful, to give. But, like photographs of sunrise, words fail, for wines like this

20/20 - Decanter, Richard Mayson - Copper brown colour, with a golden nuance and greenish reflections. On the nose it´s very complex and characteristic, reveals a concentrated bouquet with spices like black pepper, exotic woods, smoked notes of nutshell and resin and dry fruits infused in rum. On the palate leaves a soft and sweet first impression then explodes leaving a long and fresh aftertaste full of spices notes. It leaves our mouth with a spicy and salivating sensation, wishing for a next taste
