Although aged the same as Ruby (3 years), it has a more developed aroma and taste. This is due to greater oxygenation (through ageing in wooden barrels as opposed to wine vats), which makes it a lighter, warmer and more feminine wine. Its original red colour gives way to amber tones, its flavour is enriched by a combination of nuts, dried fruits and the aromas of red fruits – cherries, plums, blackberries and raspberries – and a semi-oxidizing harmonious bouquet is formed. The palate is light and warm, with a smooth and harmonious mid-palate.

A versatile port wine that can accompany snacks such as pâté, foie gras and chocolate desserts. Can also be served slightly chilled as an aperitif

The house Ramos Pinto owns the vineyards (Quintas) do Bom Retiro, da Urtiga, dos Bons Ares and da Ervamoira. These areas cover a total of about 360 ha. It is very special for a producer to have so many vineyards under their own management and it means that Ramos Pinto has great control over the quality of the grapes from which both wine and port are made.
