The Redoma Reserva Branco 2022 is a true reflection of the wonderful terroir of old, high-altitude vineyards and predominantly granitic soils.
Its nose is delicate and fresh, featuring floral notes, orchard and citrus fruit mingling seamlessly with the barrels’ toasty notes. The palate reveals a complex interplay of spice, tropical fruit and citrus. This is a structured yet delicate wine with elegant body and a fantastic acidity culminating in a long, expressive finish. Much like its previous versions, this is a white wine which will greatly benefit from cellaring. Serve in Burgundy-style wine glass. A smart wine with great potential.

The Redoma Reserva comes from vineyards which are more than 80 years old, planted in mica-schist soils at an altitude of 600 metres above sea level. Since its first edition in 1995, the main objective in producing this wine has been to reflect the character of the Douro’s old vines. The best barriques were selected for the wine’s maturation in order to guarantee minerality, complexity and ageing potential.

The 2022 vintage was the driest year of the 21st century, with a harvest that began earlier than ever before! In the past few years, we have witnessed an increase in unpredictable weather, with more frequent extreme phenomena, such as the heat waves and heavy rains that characterised the year 2022 in the Douro. Since we farm our vineyards in a natural way at Niepoort, this climatic variability has a great impact on the final profile of our wines, which means that the 2022 vintage is one to remember.

At Quinta de Nápoles, harvesting began on 4 August with the earlier-maturing grape varieties. On 12 August we began harvesting our
white grapes. The grapes stem from old vines growing on the right bank of the Douro River, at an altitude of 400 to 600 metres above sea level. These vines predominantly grow in mica-schist soils, which, in combination with the complexity of the various grape varieties typical of the
Douro region, create delicate wines full of freshness and minerality. The grapes for the Redoma Reserva were refrigerated and transported to the cellars where they were meticulously sorted before undergoing a slow and gentle pressing. The must was left to settle without skin contact for 24 hours, followed by a slow alcoholic fermentation in wooden barrique barrels. In these same barrels, the Redoma Reserva matured for 9 months, with complete malolactic fermentation.
