A delicious red wine with a deep dark red color and violet tones. Intense and lively nose with dominant ripe black fruit, such as aromas of ripe plums, some coffee notes and dark chocolate barrels. Elegant, with ripe tannins well integrated, which together with its acidity provide good volume, body and freshness. Lingering finish dominated by ripe fruit aromas. A wine with aging potential.

Grapes : 100% Aragonez
Grapes coming from “Canto do Zé Cruz” vineyard, one of the oldest vineyards in Herdade do Esporão. Produces grapes with intense colour and concentrated aromas. Early ripener with good yields producing wine with balanced alcohol and acidity and with excellent ageing potential.
Hand-picked. Foot-trodden. Fermented in marble Lagares at Adega dos lagares. Then transferred to concrete tanks where it finishes the fermentation with controlled temperatures.
Maturation: in new French oak barrels (5.000 liters) for one year, followed by two years in bottle.
Spring was cooler and wetter than previous year. The lower temperatures led to a longer period of vegetative growth and, despite the hotter weather from July onwards, the harvest began 10 days later than usual. The warmer conditions continued throughout the vintage, grape quality was excellent, and, despite the heat, sugar levels remained normal, with slightly lower acidity.
