Testifying to a rich heritage, the past of Quinta do Castelinho is closely linked to the delimitation of the Porto appellation, at a time when the borders were delimited by imposing granite blocks. This iconic property, located in the spectacular Douro Valley, in the Duriense region of northwestern Portugal, was already mentioned on the map designed by Baron Forrester in 1848.
In 1903, agronomist and diplomat Jaime Batalha Reis wrote in the newspaper "O Comércio do Porto", the wines from the Quinta do Castelinho were easily recognizable because of their so particular aromatic notes signifying their qualitative excellence.
Acquired in 1969, Quinta do Castelinho will become known in the 1990s as Castelinho Vinhos, one of the first companies to export its Port wines directly from the Douro region without going through the port of Vila Nova de Gaia in Porto.
Mastering the entire process of developing its Port wines, selecting the best bunches, the Quinta do Castelinho is at the origin of a range of portwines of exception.
Produced exclusively during the great years with the finest grapes and in very limited quantities, the Porto Vintage Quinta do Castelinho is considered a real jewel of Porto. Legend Vintages are, 1990, 1991, 1994, 1997, 1999 and 2000
