Nose has a splash of raisins, salty caramel and licorice. Every sip brings new sensation - coffee, lemon peel, nutmeg, pecans, toffee, mandarin. Long citrusy finish.
The founders of D’Oliveiras were visionaries that saw the true value of Madeira Wine: its ability to improve over time. D’Oliveiras is the only Madeira Wine company that owns Madeira Wine bottles and barrels from as far as the 1850’s that can still be commercially purchased. Bottled and painted by hand in 2022, this 1983 Verdelho has been aged for 39 years in old French oak barrels in the 17th century wine lodge in the heart of old Funchal.

Madeira wines are indestructible and have the fascinating ability to remain in excellent condition for centuries. Keep your bottle of Madeira wine upright, away from direct sunlight, and it will last forever. The acids of Madeira are so strong that they will attack the cork if the bottle is stored lying down. Once opened, a bottle of Madeira wine will remain in perfect condition for months, if not years. So, don't hurry to finish the bottle. That is, if you can resist :-)
