Discover Barros Colheita 1974 Special Edition – a unique port that celebrates 50 years of freedom and revolutionary talent.
Barros, a traditional producer of port wine founded in 1913, proudly presents a Special Edition of their Colheita vintage 1974. This exclusive port wine, with a brilliant light amber color. And a rich, enveloping nose dominated by aromas of dried plums and almonds. Offers a silky texture and delicate nuances of dried fruits and refined spices, well integrated with light woody notes. The wine is well-structured, elegant and has a persistent and delicate finish, making it a collector's item without equal.

A significant milestone in Portugal's history, with this special edition. In collaboration with Portuguese artist Teresa Rego, Barros celebrates Portuguese talent through a unique design that interprets the meaning of freedom. 1974 was a landmark year in Portugal. After nearly fifty years of authoritarian rule, the Estado Novo government was overthrown in what came to be known as the Carnation Revolution, and Portugal was on its way to freedom and democracy. Teresa Rego's vibrant illustrations adorn the bottle, label and individual box, radiating values such as youthfulness and liveliness through colors and bold designs that provide a relaxed and bold interpretation of this historic date.

The visual identity of the Barros Colheita 1974 Special Edition is both challenging and in harmony with Barros' own identity and the celebration of April 25. The work seeks to create a scenic contrast: the calm against the strength of the date, a concept open to personal interpretation. It is a living tribute to the courage of a people and the beauty of free thought and creation.

Teresa Rego, an artist, illustrator and designer known for her colorful and bold illustrations, has collaborated with Barros to create this unique design. Having completed a Masters in Architecture in Portugal and a Masters in Illustration from the University of Arts London, Camberwell College of Arts, she now has her own studio and showroom in Porto. Her collaboration with many national and international brands makes her the perfect choice to honor this historic occasion.

Each bottle in this collection is a tribute to the revolutionary spirit. There transformed Portugal, and an invitation to all who want to appreciate and celebrate history through an exceptional vintage. A Barros tribute to true Portuguese talent.
Colheita's are seen as Tawny's of very high quality. Comes from a single harvest and has spent at least 7 years in French oak barrels of approximately 550 liters.  Colheita port wine represents less than 1% of the total annual production of port. Like Vintage, a Colheita port is only released when the best conditions are met and after approval of the IDVP (Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e do Porto)
