Krohn have declared the 2016 vintage – announced on St George’s Day (23rd April ’18) as is customary. The last classic vintage released was the 2011
Krohn’s Managing Director, Adrian Bridge, said: “The keynotes of 2016 are purity and refinement. The Vintage Port displays elegance and poise, a wonderful purity of fruit and tannins of great quality… The 2016s are likely to become rarities in future, particularly given the trend towards enjoying Vintage Ports young.”
Cultivated in flagship property in the Rio Torto Valley, all Vintage Port’s are single harvest wines aged in older casks. After an unusual harvest and long fermentation, the 2016 emerged deep ruby in color. On the nose, a curtain of vibrant fresh fruits—hints of raspberry, cherry, plum, and apricot—delightfully mix with herbs and warm spices. And the palate is intricately complex. Mouth filling tannins create a pure and firm flavor, an experience that makes Krohn’s 2016 Classic Vintage Port exceedingly worth remembering.

Store & Serve
Store horizontally at a constant temperature of 12 ° C.
Decant for a couple of hours or so to bring the wine at its best. Serve at 18 ° C. Can be kept for up to 2 days after opening
All these wines can be drunk after bottling, but they improve considerably through bottle ripening. Over time, a sediment forms in the bottle. This is why it is advisable to decant them before serving. In the beginning of the ripening the color is almost black, the aroma complex, extremely fruity and floral. The taste is strong and tannic, very structured and penetrating. Slowly but surely, these wines change color and their specific characteristics are further accentuated.
