Tejo - Quinta da Lapa
The domain is located about 70 kilometers north of Lisbon in the Tejo wine region
It was founded in 1733 and has around 100 hectares of vineyard. Many, more unknown, local grapes have been planted such as Trincadeira, Arinto and Fernâo Pires. They also work with more famous grape varieties such as Viognier and Chardonnay for white and Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon for red, as well as the national pride, Touriga Nacional.
There is a fairly warm climate in this fertile valley. The vineyards are located on the poorer grounds in the hills. An additional advantage of this is that it is slightly less hot in those hills and cools down a little more at night, so that the grapes develop a nice aroma. They produce wines with strength and finesse combined with a great freshness and minerality.
