One of the most acclaimed and traditional wines in Portugal, the famous Quinta do Côtto was the first Quinta wine in the country. Tasty, rich and intense, with a lot of structure and concentration. A classic from Portugal.

Quinta do Côtto is one of the best and most traditional producers in the Douro region, having been the great pioneer in the creation of the concept of "Vinhos de Quinta", like the best châteaux in Bordeaux.

The Quinta produces two red wines that are certainly among the most famous in the Douro: the legendary Quinta do Côtto Grande Escolha -- one of the greatest Portuguese wines, made only in exceptional vintages -- and the delicious Quinta do Côtto red, a true classic. Vinha do Dote is made only from grapes from a vineyard planted more than 90 years ago, which was given as a dowry in the marriage of "Avó Rosa", who together with her husband Antônio Montez Champalimaud founded the company in 1922. Sousão is the latest addition to Quinta do Cotto's portfolio, showing the qualities of this interesting native grape.
Located in the heart of the oldest and most traditional demarcated wine region in Portugal, Quinta do Côtto has 70 hectares of vineyards mentioned since the first documents related to the implementation of vineyards in the Douro Valley.

For several centuries, the estate of Quinta do Côtto focused almost exclusively on the production of traditional Port wines. Some small amounts of red and white wines were also made, but only for the family's own consumption. In 1932, after the attack of the phylloxera pest, the winery and vineyards of Quinta do Côtto were modernized in order to also produce white and red wines, in addition to fortified Port wines, based on traditional varieties and with recent winemaking methods. .

Miguel Montez Champalimaud, from the 5th generation of the family, took over Quinta do Côtto recently, implementing strategic changes to further improve the quality of the wines. For many critics and European wine specialists, a wine from Quinta do Côtto currently represents a wine produced and bottled in a particular terroir, with grapes carefully selected by winemakers and with a guarantee of quality, personality and authenticity - essential characteristics for the production of good wines.
