A delicious wine ideal with red (grilled) meat dishes
Grapes: Touriga Franca (30%), Touriga Nacional (25%), Tinta Roriz (20%), Sousão (5%) & Vinhas Velhas (20%)
The grapes from the younger vineyards contributed 80% in the final blend. The remaining 20% came from the very old vineyards (more than 70 years old). The vast majority of wines, both from the old and from the newer vineyards, were fermented in stainless steel tanks for a week. A small part of the grapes from the old vineyards were crushed and fermented in 'lagares'. All wines were fermented under controlled temperatures ranging between 23º and 25ºC.
75% of the blend matured for 12 months in stainless steel tanks. The remaining 25% matured for 12 months in 225 liters of used (3rd and 4th year) French oak barrels
