A fine ruby red wine with a complex aroma of notes of black and violet fruit, in harmony with hints of pine needle, cardamom and pepper. The taste is woven with noble tannins. A well integrated acidity and a long lively aftertaste.
The characteristics of the wines are strongly
influenced by the granitic terrain and the fact that the vines are planted in forests with pines, eucalyptus and oak trees.
The Magnum Wines was born fed by a Ribeiro, Santo by the way, because it never would have dried or because the devotion thus credited it. Located in Oliveira do Conde, in the heart of the vineyard of Lusitânia, between the rivers Mondego and Dão, it is here that the most adventurous vineyards the country knows, and it was here that Carlos Rodrigues and Carlos Lucas began the extraordinary adventure of a life dedicated to the vineyards.
Food-Pairing
Delicious with fine grilled meat dishes
Grapes: Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro, Tinta Roriz
The grapes are harvested by hand at the end of September, carefully selected and transported in small boxes weighing 18 kg, followed by a second selection on arrival at the winery. The grapes are completely destemmed and in small granite "lagares" macerated at low temperature for 24 hours. Afterwards follows an alcoholic fermentation of about 15 days. After fermentation, the wine is poured into new French oak barrels - which were already used for the fermentation of white wine - where it gets a rest period of 9 months

91/100 - Wine Enthusiast Tasted: Apr 2020
One of a range of wines produced by winemaker Carlos Lucas, this is ripe, perfumed, structured and finely poised. It has a smoky character, a dry core and a solid dense fruitiness. Drinkable now, but the wine will be best from 2021. Roger Voss
