Bright brown colour with brick hints. Rich and exuberant nose, revealing the outstanding presence of the dried fruits and the attractiveness of the spices. Concentrated flavours of raisins and molasses, in a silky and velvety taste. An excellent structure extended through an elegant and persistent finish.
A Colheita Port is a Tawny Port from a single harvest and has spent at least 7 years in French oak barrels of about 550 liters. Colheita port wine represents less than 1% of the total annual production of postage. Like Vintage, a Colheita port is only released when the best conditions are met and after approval of the IDVP (Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e do Porto).

The vineyard is disposed along the slopes on horizontal levels and, more recently, they are planted along the lines of greatest slopes, so called “Vinha ao Alto” (vertically planted vines). Schistous-sandstone (greywacke), interspersed with granite in some places.
Hand-picked at the optimum time, the grapes are then destemmed, crushed and converted into wine through a process of careful maceration to extract their colour, tannins and aromas, enhanced by constant churning during fermentation. This takes place in vats (lagares) at a controlled temperature (between 28-30°C) until the right degree of sweetness (baumé) is achieved. At this point, grape brandy is added to create the final fortified wine. A wine of high quality, made from one single harvest. A Colheita wine matures in oak barrels for periods of time that can vary, but never less than 7 years. It is then bottled and sold according to the demands of the market.
