The Douro Wine Crasto Rosé is made from the grape varieties Touriga Nacional (85%) and Tinta Roriz (15%). Bright salmon in colour, the wine delivers great aromatic freshness, with attractive notes of wild berry fruit nicely combined with elegant floral hints. Very appealing on the palate, showing good volume and a polished structure made up of soft-textured tannins and vibrant minerality. This is an engaging and balanced wine, with a refreshing finish

Food pairing
Delicious as an aperitif with a salad of goat cheese, salmon risotto or grilled fish or sardines

This wine fits miraculously with the dish: Courgettes and tomatoes with feta (Pure Food - Pascale Naessens - Uitgeverij Lannoo)

Grapes: 85 % Touriga Nacional & 15 % Tinta Roriz
The grapes, chosen from selected plots, are taken to the winery in 22 kg plastic boxes. On arrival in the winery they are rigorously inspected on a sorting table and they are then destemmed and gently pressed. Only the free run juice is used. It is sent to stainless steel tanks where it remains for 48 hours at 8ºC for sedimentation. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 14ºC for 30 days

2020 was an extremely demanding year, not only because of the global pandemic, but also because of the very severe climatic conditions, a hot and dry year during the crucial period of ripening of the grapes. This was the warmest winter since 2005, but there was also a lot of rain, especially in December, both at Quinta da Cabreira (Douro Superior) as in Quinta do Crasto (Cima Corgo). The months of March to June were also accompanied by high rainfall and high temperatures, leading to early bud bursts, about ten days earlier than usual. During this period there was more pressure due to the possibility of diseases occurring in the vineyard. July and August were hot months, but luckily there was some availability of water in the soil to ensure proper ripening of the grapes. However, it was essential not to miss the optimal harvest point to avoid a threat of dehydration of the grapes. The harvest started on August 17 and ended on September 25. It was a lower production vintage, with the vines showing smaller clusters and growing grapes with a smaller diameter, but with an optimal skin-to-pulp ratio, and therefore excellent concentration. A harvest marked by the Covid-19 pandemic, but by all the professionalism and dedication of the Quinta do Crasto team, has led to the production of white wines with excellent balance, freshness and aromatic definition and very complete red wines, with very expressive, seductive texture and excellent persistence.
