Did you know Vinho Verde can be red? That’s right! The name of a region, rather than a style of wine, it includes vibrant, light-to-medium-bodied reds like this indigenous blend, full of strawberry fruit lifted by very pleasant acidity. A thoroughly modern expression of red Vinho Verde from Portugal, light and fruity after a very short fermentation on the skins to produce a wine low in extract, with herb-scented silky red fruit and fresh finish. Chillable!
Pardusco was the name given to the first red wines, wich were exported to England in the fourteenth century. This wine is a tribute to that glorious past. Back in those days they didn’t had the denomination of Vinho Verde and later in time they startedto be known as “Mature wines of Monção”
Food-Pairing
Ideal with fine white meat like duck or turkey for example, veal schnitzel, pasta dishes, charcuterie, cheese like Reblochon (Haute-Savoie) or at the start of the meal.
Grapes: Alvarelhão, Cainho, Pedral & Vinhão
The grapes come from Monção in the north and the valley of the Lima, on the west side of Vinho Verde. The wine is made by first applying a cold soak to the skins for more color. After a slow fermentation at low temperature - for the fruit - a ripening takes place on used barrels, which have served for the Alvarinho, in combination with a micro-oxygenation, to soften the tannin
