The Evel is considered a typical reference to the Douro wines, with aromas of red fruit and green notes, typical of the area. This red wine reveals itself very well balanced, tasty and round showing notes of pepper and hot stone on the minerally finish long aftertaste. Feels like Grenache.
Evel Tinto is one of the most charismatic and innovative wines in the history of the Douro. Launched in 1913, the aim was to present a clear Douro wine profile, with a lighter and fruitier style, as opposed to the structured and concentrated wines of the time. Today, Evel Tinto is produced from the vineyards planted at Quinta das Carvalhas, Quinta dos Aciprestes and Quinta do Cidrô, in Pinhão, Vale do Tua and S. João da Pesqueira respectively.

The Evel Tinto is produced from vines planted at Quinta das Carvalhas, Quinta dos Aciprestes and Quinta de Cidrô, located in Pinhão, Vale do Tua and São João da Pesqueira. The first two locations benefit from a warm climate where wines are structured and elegante while Quinta de Cidrô benefits from a cool climate that permits the slow maturation of grapes and the production of aromatic wines with smooth tanins.
The name Evel is a derivative of the anagram "Leve" that "light" means in Portuguese. This indicates that these wines have a delicate and, now more highly appreciated, light character. This is in contrast to the traditional heavy Portuguese wines. A wine that recommends better restaurants in Portugal and that is also the favorite wine for state banquets.
