Grapes: 50% Castelão & 50% Trincadeira das Pratas
Fermentation in stainless steel vats with temperature control. Aged 12 months in French and American oak halfbarrels.
Trincadeira das Pratas is a light-skinned grape variety primarily used in blended white wines in Portugal, notably the Estremadura, Ribatejo and Setubal Peninsula wine regions. Its primary role is to bring perfume and delicate flavor to a blend but, on its own, it lacks complexity. Trincadeira das Pratas vines bud and ripen early in the growing season, making them susceptible to spring frosts, but the warm, sunny climate in Portugal means this is rarely a concern. The variety should not be confused with Trincadeira, which is an alias of Tinta Amarela, the popular red-wine grape of the Douro region. A synonyms is Tamarez
