ruby color. Intense and varied aroma with notes of cloves, violet and toasted vanilla. The ripe fruit is surrounded by a touch of leather and spices. Complex flavor, full-bodied and long. The tannins are firm and noble with vanilla, black fruit and a hint of smoke on the finish. A perfect sensational harmony
There is always a unique story that hides behind a wine. The history of the Vasques de Carvalho family has roots as strong as a vine and is intertwined with the history of the Douro. Its origin dates back to the mid-nineteenth century and to the family wine company, which has always transformed its production into fortified wine, selling part of it to exporting houses and aging another part, adding value. In the middle of the 20th century, the family began trading fortified wine, purchasing grapes from third parties, which they vinified and later sold to the export trade.

Winemaker Jaime Costa is in charge of the portfolio. Having worked for 16 years at Burmester, the former Revista de Vinhos Fortified Winemaker of the Year 2005 is plainly thrilled once again to have such fine and rare aged Port wines at his disposal. And his timing is good. The recent spate of headline grabbing, luxury-priced Very Old Tawny Ports means that Tawny Ports are, at last, having their day in the sun
