A fine and elegant, very vintage port. A port wine with a very fine and delicate floral and fruity aroma. An elegant mineral taste, sweet balsamic vinegar and rich tannins. A rich but not excessively long finish
The year 2003 had very hot and other particularly humid days. The production was high, but the fruits were quite small, thus favoring the concentration of tannins and colour. Excess grapes were removed to ensure the balance of the wine. The Niepoort Vintage 2003 was completed in September 2005
The vintage port is, at almost all port houses, the icing on the cake!
The magic of vintage port is different at every stage: as a young wine, it is all about the full-bodied, youthful fruit. Then, after 20 years or more, all the elements of the wine integrate in perfect harmony and finally, after many decades, the 'spirit' of the wine dominates. Vintage port is great in all three stages. An absolute experience, especially for the patient among us. Fortunately, this wine is also very tasty for the impatient among us young, but certainly decant it to give the wine oxygen.
