Vintage Port
A vintage port wine is at the top of the porter hierarchy. About three times every 10 years, the harvest is found so well that the IVDP (institute dos vinhos do Douro e do Porto) calls the year to a vintage port yearA vintage port compared with the other port wines are staying relatively short in the barrel, and therefore a lot of sediment forms in the bottle.
It is kept for 3 years in oak barrels, but usually it is bottled after 2 years. Afterwards, they it ripes further on the bottle and form sediment in the bottle. Therefore, keep the bottle always lying, in a cool dark place, a few days before use, put them upright.
It is, of course, also advisable to decant these ports so that the sediment remains in the bottle
