Our selection of 10 red estate wines (Single Quinta) from the Douro
The Douro wine region, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, produces excellent wines. Wines from this region are subject to some very strict rules regarding the winemaking
In order for a wine to bear the name of the estate, it is necessary that all grapes come from that estate. So when the name of the Quinta is on the label (compare Quinta with Château in France), it means that it is an estate wine and that the grapes come from vineyards grown on the estate. If the grapes used to make the wine come from other estates or have been purchased from local farmers, the name of the Quinta should not appear on the label
This gives the consumer confidence, because in this way he knows that an estate wine was checked from the land to the bottle by the vintner. Each estate is also given a designation (A to F, A being the highest rating), representing a classification of the quality of the grapes. So now we have all the information we need to make sure that the money we pay for a wine results in a quality product.
Our selection of 10 single estate quality wines from the Douro for a total budget of € 100
