This southern white wine has a little more sugar and can therefore be classified as a semi-dry wine. This has made him a real crowd favorite wherever he ends up in the world.
The wine also has a beautiful history. Manuel Lobo (lobo is wolf in Portuguese) of Quinta do Casal Branco, a wine estate with more than two hundred years of history located in Tejo in the south of Portugal, happened to listen to the famous musical children's fairy tale of the Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev "The Trickster and the Wolf" (Петя и волк). Prokofiev wrote this piece in 1936 with a desire to encourage children to notice the sound of different musical instruments. Each character - grandfather, songbird, duck, cat and hunters - is represented in this fairy tale by a different instrument: violin, horn, flute, clarinet and drums. Different old Portuguese grapes such as Fernão Pires, Alvarinho and Moscatel (muscat d'Alexandrie) – also play different roles in this white wine. The result is a nice whole, in which every grape has a role. Fernão Pires has given the wine an exuberant tropicality with ripe pineapple, peaches and apples, Alvarinho has added blooming citrus and balanced acidity, and Alexandria's aged Muscat has added the buzz of bees and loops of flowers. A few months of aging in an oak barrel has added softness and roundness and all the sounds are nicely tied together.
The successor to Lobo e Falcao Branco. Same wine, different label
