Terramatter is a different kind of wine from the Natural Soalheiros range, which means that it is unfiltered and produced from the Alvarinho grape variety, grown in a way that supports biodiversity. This is a Soalheiro which can be interpreted at the same time as a return to its origins, and as a view of the future. Intense in colour, aromatically expressive and complex on the palate, it maintains its marked personality and distinctive profile. The wine’s partial malolactic fermentation in chestnut barrels and earlier harvesting are the fundamental factors underlying its personality. Soalheiro Terramatter is perfect harvest with a elegant and expressive profile. The climatic conditions allowed a very intense and mineral aroma with a fresh and intense flavour. Characteristic of this wine are the expressive aromas of herbs and lime thanks to the earlier harvest.
Food-Pairing
Ideal with grilled oily fish dishes such as salmon and seafood, oysters or lobster au gratin, roasted white meat dishes such as salad chicken with almonds. Also delicious with asparagus in butter sauce
Grapes: 100% Alvarinho
The Alvarinho, called Albariño in Spain, is a white grape variety. In the region of Vinho Verde, the grape is the most important, but also in Rias Baixas (Galicia) good wines are produced. The grape has a thick skin and a reasonable yield. The alcohol content of the wines is quite high. The wines have fruity aromas where apple usually has the upper hand.
The difference between Terramatter and the classical Soalheiro, mainly comes from the difference in vinification and the harvest time. The grapes for Terramatter are harvested earlier and the wine undergoes a partial malolactic fermentation on chestnut wood feeds. Ripens in stainless steel barrels and is bottled without filtering
