Grapes: 75% Encruzado, 25% Gouveio
The grapes are brought to the winery in 20 kg boxes and immediately put into the pneumatic press. The must, well protected against oxidation, was statically decanted for 24 hours at a low temperature. They were then transferred to temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, where the fermentation took place for about 20 days at temperatures no higher than 16ºC. The wine then matured for 16 months in used barrels (20% 500 liters; 80% 225 liters).
The winter was cold and dry in terms of precipitation. Rain fell in the spring, but less than in 2016 and the temperature was higher than normal for this time of the cycle. The birth and flowering went without any problems. The summer was hot and dry. The harvest started in August (3 weeks earlier than usual) and took place without rain
