"(...) Every man has his dream. Born in Douro region, Zeca do Pôpa, had the dream of owning a Quinta in the best place of the world, in one of the oldest wine regions in the world. In 2003, Zeca obtained his “piece ” of the Douro and bought his Quinta which at the time was called Quinta do Vidiedo, located in Adorigo – Tabuaço. The winery is situated in one of the oldest wine regions in the world, home to all his childhood memories. He started to buy some small parcels, very usual in the northern Portuguese agriculture structure, and joining them into a single Quinta.  Honoring his father, which nickname was “Pôpa”, for his joy in sharing his life with his friends, he gave his name to this Quinta, built with great enthusiasm and economical effort he honored his father.

Later, his friend Luís Pato, a winemaker from Bairrada and a lover of the Douro, offered his technical knowledge to the family, challenging the third generation of Pôpa, Stéphane and Vanessa Ferreira, to make this dream come true. In 2010, Stéphane and Vanessa Ferreira both set foot in the Douro, giving rise to a new, more youthful and dynamic vision. Stéphane, with his love of wine and great passion for music, brings a new approach to the traditional and elegant wines of the Douro. With respect for tradition, he is open to experimentation and creates innovative wines. Vanessa brought her feminine and artistic touch to the project. A dreamer and strongly rooted in her homeland of the Douro, she works with great passion on sustainability and wine tourism, both down to the last detail.

That’s the way QUINTA do PÔPA was born, located in the left side of Douro River, on a privileged location and only counting with the best Douro wine qualifications on his side. If in this Quinta was possible to make the best Port Wines, it was the option of his owner to plant it with the best Portuguese grapes varieties, where Tinta Roriz is the predominant one, and Touriga Franca, Tinto Cão, Sousão and, of course, a big percentage of Touriga Nacional. The dream has become reality with the truly enthusiasm that Zeca do Pôpa has put in this entire journey.
