Grapes: Tinta Negra Mole
Originally, Madeira was made from four grape varieties, producing four Madeira varieties. The name referred to the grape variety used. Sercial was a dry Madeira, Verdelho was a semi-dry, Bual was a semi-sweet and the Malmsey was a sweet Madeira. Nowadays, the different types of Madeira are made from one wine variety: the Tinta Negra, which is flavored with small amounts of the traditional grapes. The four different types of Madeira are still made today. The distinction is no longer made according to grape variety, but according to taste: dry, medium dry, medium sweet and sweet

Store & Serve
Always store a Madeira wine upright.
Madeira's acids are so strong that they attack the cork if the bottle is stored horizontally
Serve at 10°C as an aperitif or at 16°C as a dessert wine.
Madeira is a wine that has been aged for several years in an oxidative environment, before being bottled in a reductive environment. It is therefore useful to open the bottles a few hours in advance. The bottles can then be stored almost indefinitely, as the air no longer affects Madeira wines. In fact, after months - if there is any left - the wine tastes better than when the bottle was opened.
