These vintage or frasqueira wines are the top wines from Madeira. The ripening potential is almost unlimited.
This madeira of the highest quality must have been at least 20 years in the barrel plus two years in the bottle before the sale can take place. This wine used to be called vintage madeira. A frasqueira must consist entirely of one of the top varieties that are mentioned on the label, together with the harvest and bottling year. Frasqueira's always come from one good harvest year. They have undergone a mild temperature treatment and have been stored in wooden barrels for a long time. After bottling, the quality of frasqueira no longer changes. Because of their uniqueness, these Madeira wines are listed.

Medium dry, with a huge range of flavours from orange marmalade and honey to fruit cake, walnuts and dates.  The palate is very well-balanced with rapier-like acidity. It is harmonious and focused with resinous/oxidative elements neatly interwoven into the viscous, honey fruit, leaving the finish harmonious, long and satisfying.

Food-pairing
Cheeses such as blue cheeses, Stilton, Gruyere, manchego, & Emmenthal. Dried fruits.
Creme Brulee, caramel desserts with apples, apricots, pecans, cherries, almonds, hazelnuts, dried figs and vanilla ice cream desserts.  The excellent companion to a pipe, cigar or aromatic tobacco.

Grapes
Terrantez : is a difficult to grow white medium sweet grape variety. It is not very resistant to moisture and therefore the slopes on the east coast are best suited. The variety has become rare, barely 5 ha and 500 kilos. Terrantez is characterized by a certain bitterness and a finish that is reminiscent of roasted coffee and ash.

Store & Serve
Always keep a Madeira wine upright.
The acids of Madeira are so strong that they attack the cork when the bottle is stored lying down
Serve at 18 °C
Madeira is a wine that has matured for several years in an oxidative environment, and is then bottled in a reductive environment. It is therefore useful to open the bottles a few hours in advance. The bottles can then be preserved almost indefinitely, since the air no longer has any influence on Madeira wines. In fact, the wine tastes better after months - if there is any remaining - than when you open the bottle
