A red wine from a new vineyard owned by Carlos Lucas, whose Dão wines we have been following for several years. This young wine shows the dark berry fruit and scent of the typical local grapes of the Douro, enhanced by hints of spice and well-managed tannins. Young and complex at the same time, with very present notes of red fruit. In the mouth it is elegant, with good structure and good volume. A wine with some complexity and acidity, well marked. Long and persistent finish.
Food pairing
Ideal with lamb, red meat and game also orange-skinned soft cheeses or cheese like Carre de l'Est, This rather powerful orange, wash-rind cheese from Lorraine (in the east of France) needs characterful wines to combat it. Fruity reds from Portugal would work well
Grapes: Touriga nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela
Grape must selection and post-cooling and decanting at low temperature. Fermentation in stainless steel vats at a temperature of around 15ºC for 20 days. About 15% of the wine ferments and ages for 6 months in 500L French oak barrels.
The property is located in the municipality of Tabuaço, in the parish of Granjinha, next to the right bank of the river Távora. This has 30 ha of vines, some of them over 100 years old, with a schist soil with some granitic outcrops. It lies at an altitude of between 250 to 470 m, with hot summers and little annual precipitation.

Produced from vines in the Tâvora valley, a tributary of the Douro, this is ripe with a strong mineral structure. It has fine acidity and black fruits to balance. Drink from 2023. Roger Voss
