Wonderfully refined and refined, focused, tasteful and pure finesse, this very jovial Chryseia lacks nothing. The result of this excellent vintage is a fantastically dense, complex, luscious and yet absolutely precise wine, in which you can already recognize the handwriting of the master in the nose, despite the ripe fruit. The fragrance is stunningly elegant and rich in finesse and clearly shows where Prats learned his craft. Here you will find notes of Black Forest cake including kirsch. There are also red plums and wild strawberries combined with pomelo and earl grey, a hint of mocha and an overlying note of violet. Everything finds its place and is supported by gently elegant woods and a remarkably cool tone that rises very gently despite its presence. Also on the palate you wouldn't assume that this wine comes from locations whose slate-shaped surfaces can be boiling hot in summer and are among the warmest in Europe. And yet the wine is naturally characterized by full maturity and a sweet fruit core, melting chocolate and a tannin reminiscent of velvet and silk, which accompanies the Chryseia in a long and again fresh final. World class!
CHRYSEIA is one of the pioneers of the globally recognized revival of the non-reinforced Douro DOC wines. However, this wine, whose name means "golden" in ancient Greek - just like the name of the river in Portuguese - has remained faithful to its own style which contemplates elegance and balance. Chryseia symbolizes the union of a noble Portuguese tradition and an equally rich Bordeaux tradition in the creation of a new and modern wine style. CHRYSEIA was first put on the market in 2000
This excellent wine is the ultimate and sublime result of a collaboration between the Symington family and the French oenologist Bruno Prats.

Grapes: 65% Touriga Nacional & 35% Touriga Franca
The joint venture of the famed Symington family, who already own the Dow's, Graham's, Warre's and Cockburn's port wineries in the Douro Valley, with the former owner of the Bordeaux cru Cos d'Estournel, Bruno Prats, has long been a major one Success Story developed. How should it be different when these celebrities get involved in such a project? Symington + Prats' flagship was the Chryseia, a Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca cuvée. The fruit comes from the best plots of the Quinta de Roriz and the Quinta da Perdiz, which are equipped with different climates in two different valleys and side valleys of the Douro. After manual picking, the grapes were slowly and gently fermented and aged for more than 15 months in partly new 400 liter French oak barrels. The hot and dry summer of 2016 led to an autumn with enough rain to re-energize the troubled vines, and the high day-night amplitude led to very good fruit and acid development. After manual picking, the grapes were slowly and gently fermented and aged for more than 15 months in partly new 400 liter French oak barrels.
