Taylor’s exceptional 1966 Single Harvest Port follows the 1965 and 1964 and is the third in a series of single harvest releases from the Port house. Taylor’s has decided to make a limited release, each year, of a Single Harvest Port made 50 years previously. Taylor’s Managing Director, Adrian Bridge, commented: "A 50th birthday or anniversary is a landmark occasion. Taylor’s Single Harvest Ports offer a unique opportunity to celebrate with an extraordinary 50 year old wine in perfect condition.”
Broad amber rim, with olive highlights, around a mahogany gold core. Very fine complex nose with notes of orange flower and marmalade, a discreet vanilla oakiness and warm nutty notes of walnut, macadamia and marzipan, against a sumptuous background of molasses and butterscotch.
The palate is smooth and honeyed but lifted by a crisp acidity. "The luscious flavours of fig, damson and apricot confit persist into the long mellow finish. A beautifully balanced and finely constituted wine displaying all the nuanced and multi-layered character of long wood ageing.
Food-Pairing

Single Harvest Ports are blended wines from a single year which have been aged in oak casks. They are fully mature and ready to drink when bottled. The long period of wood ageing gives them their characteristic amber colour, smooth velvety palate, warm mellow flavours and nose full of rich complex aromas.
