Quinta da Romaneira LBV 2013 is a Late Bottled Vintage Port wine of great refinement and complexity. A deep rich ruby red color with a core of black plums, blackberries and blueberries, complemented by accents of cocoa and Black Forest cake. Rich and elegant on the palate with aromas of spices, raisins and red fruit. Wonderfully balanced with a velvety yet firm tannin structure leading to a luscious long finish.
Food pairing
Taste delicious with chocolate desserts, especially if dark and bitter chocolate is used, also with foie gras, sublime with cheeses such as Cheddar, Gouda, Brie or blue cheeses such as Bleu de Bresse, Blue Stilton, Roquefort & Portuguese cheeses. Spicy dishes with red meat or game, including lamb and veal. However, the combination that surpasses everything is an LBV and pepper steak!
Grapes: Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional & Tinta Barroca
After the manual harvest, the grapes are gently crushed with the foot in the appropriate tubs, called 'lagares'. The must is then fermented at a controlled temperature between 25 and 28 degrees in stainless steel tanks. The port then matures further in large, neutral oak barrels, so-called Tonéis and Balseiro, for 5 years. The wood no longer gives off any flavour, but it does ensure natural maturation. It's ready to drink as soon as it's bottled, but will age beautifully in a cellar

This balanced, sophisticated Port offers richness and acidity as well as dried fruits and some firm tannins. It is bottled unfiltered, meaning this wine can age. Roger Voss
