This LBV has intense aromas of very ripe black fruits, with good ripening and earthy notes, confit citric fruit fragrances, balsamic and vanilla aromas, and very balanced acidity. LBV port is an 'almost' vintage quality that ripens a bit longer on casks and is therefore nicely flavored immediately after bottling. Port is to Portugal as Champagne is to France and Chianti is to Tuscany. Crazy thing is, it was invented by the British!
Quinta das Carvalhas is one of the most emblematic and spectacular properties in the Douro Valley. Written references regarding this magnificent vineyard can be traced back to 1759. Carvalhas’ Old Vines, are a post-phylloxera plantation, which have reached the respectful age of a century old.
