The 2007 Quinta do Noval Vintage Portwine is a star of the vintage. Dense purple-colored it gives up an already complex aromatic array of lavender Asian spices incense and an amalgam of black fruits with a hint of chocolate in the background. Plush and mouth-filling this large-scaled Portwine manages an uncanny blending of elegance and power. Food-Pairing

A delicious digestive, but can also be accompanied by rich old cheeses, dark chocolate or chocolate mousse.

Grapes: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinto Cão

Grapes are trodden by foot to obtain the must, then during fermentation macerate to obtain the best possible extraction in the lagares, the traditional stone vats from the Quinta. It is matured for 18 months in wooden casks in the air conditioned cellars of the Quinta, at the demarcated region of the Douro Valley before bottling.

Dark, inky black, opaque core, purple ruby reflections. On the nose initially rather restrained, fine sweet ripe blackberries, a touch of liquorice, but also dried fruit, exotic spices, and a touch of chocolate. On the palate very complex with powerful, ripe tannins giving structure. Juicy dark fruit, sweet cherries, a very clear and straightforward style and taut. Savoury nuances and a long, persistent finish, very high quality. It is starting to develop but with maturity will gain yet more elegance. A Vin de Garde.
