Tejo - Quinta do Casal Branco

One of the leading wineries in the Tejo region of Portugal.

Located on the left bank of the Tagus River, in the Ribatejo (now known as 'Tejo'), Casal Branco is an important estate of 1100 hectares, of which 140 hectares are vineyards. Casal Branco is not only a well-known winery, but also an important horse breeding of purebred Lusitano horses.

70% of the production is exported to the United Kingdom and the United States, but China is also growing rapidly.

The vineyards mainly consist of Portuguese wine varieties, such as the white Fernão Pires. The red wines are produced from Trincadeira, Castelão, Touriga Nacional and more recently Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdoot, Alicante and Syrah. The vinification is carefully done in the old winery, a building dating back to the eighteenth century, naturally adapted to the latest techniques.

One of the old customs that still remains is treading the grapes with their feet, in large granite trays, lagares, as still happens with some of the red wines, which give them a lot of depth, color and power. This makes Casal Branco one of the leading producers of Ribatejo wines, who have won prizes at many foreign wine competitions for a reason.
