This Single Harvest results from the mixture of grape must obtained from grapes originated from single vineyards, located in the South and North Coast of Madeira Island. Ricardo Diogo harvested the grapes one week before they reached their full maturation and used a horizontal screw press, obtaining with these two practices, a greater acidity in the musts. The aging process began in March 2010 by the traditionalCanteiro method, using old Frenchoak casks. In November of 2021, 3.001 units were bottled, all individually numbered.

Barbeito is one of the most forward-thinking companies on Madeira as well as being one of the youngest, being founded in the 1940's by Mário Barbeito. When Mário died in 1985, the company was taken forward by his daughter, Dona Manuela de Freitas, whose two sons, Ricardo and Miguel joined the firm in 1991. Today, Ricardo is in day to day charge of Vinhos Barbeito, his mother having retired in the early 1990s, and his brother looking after other family business interests.

Grapes: Tinta Negra Mole
The Tinta Negra Mole grape is the most planted grape of the Portuguese island of Madeira and thus accounts for eighty percent of Madeira's production. Although fine wines are made, he does not belong to the highest rated grapes of the island.
The Spaniards call him Negramoll. Originally from Andalusia, he is called Molar. But the grape is mostly known of the Spanish island of Tenerife and even more famous as Madeira grape. The Tinta Negra Mole generally produces quite light and soft red wines. They have an exuberant fragrance and can best drunk young. As madeira wine it is totally different, then it is sweet with thick brown juice, and can be kept endlessly

Store & Serve
Keep a Madeira wine always upright.
The acids of Madeira are so strong that they affect the cork when the bottle is kept lying down
Serve at 18 ° C

Madeira is a wine that matured in an oxidative environment for several years, and then comes to bottling in a reductive environment. It is therefore useful to open the bottles a few hours in advance. The bottles can then be preserved almost unlimited, as the air is no longer affecting Madeira wines. It is even so that after a few months the wine tastes better than when the bottle is just opened.
