Lagrima (tears in Portuguese), was introduced by Ramos Pinto, but in the meantime has been included in the range by all the big port wine houses. This is the sweetest of all portos, about 136 grams per liter. To compensate for the sweet taste, white, extremely ripe grape varieties are used to harmonize the sweet and fruity flavors. It is produced by a cold shell maceration prior to the normal fermentation method. Through these processes it gains strength and body as well as very complex, almost exotic flavors.
