Douro - Caves Messias

The company was founded in 1926 by Messias Baptista, who stayed in charge until 1973. Nowadays the family makes still part of the management.

Port is at Caves Messias commercialized since 1934. Like many other Portuguese houses, Messias also has a long list of colheitas starting at 1947. They are bottled in Vila Nova de Gaia

Since its founding, Messias has also commercialized wines, in addition to portwines, from various regions such as Dão, Bairrada, Douro and Vinho Verde. The company is also recognized for its high quality of its sparkling wines and spirits. In 2001, as part of the company's expansion plan, wine from the Setúbal Peninsula was also commercialized

Messias headquarter is located in Aveiro, a small town in the Bairrada region, where the company has more than 6,000 square meters of facilities and approximately 160 hectares of vineyards, of which 70 hectares for the production of the prestigious wines of Quinta do Valdoeiro.

In Ferradosa - Douro Valley - Messias has 200 hectares of land, with 130 hectares of vineyards for the production of port and silent wines from Quinta do Cachão.

The quality of the Messias wines has been recognized worldwide, the proof of which is that 65% of the production is exported to the five continents.
