This port comes from the best vines in the “Demarcated Douro Region” and is produced and
bottled following the traditional method. The harvest takes place between early September and the end of October - the grapes are pressed - fermentation in oak barrels - the must undergoes a process of fermentation which is stopped by the addition of brandy 77% vol when the desired sweetness has been obtained - the wine ages in barrels for at least 40 years - then the wine is separated from the lees and the alcohol content is adjusted if necessary.
A 40 year old tawny with a very elegant bouquet and excellent taste characteristics. It is silky smooth with the complex and delicate taste of candied fruit and walnuts, chocolate, cherries and hint of orange due to the long aging in barrels.
The Belgian master chef Roland Heelen has already many years his own vineyard in the Douro valley, where he produces top still- and portwines of native Portuguese grapes. You will taste the wine maker's passion in its quality
