Antonio works these vineyards without any chemical intervention and uses mostly biodynamic principles. Extremely low-intervention and hands-off winemaking are used to showcase the granitic terroir of his native area. He uses no winemaking additives other than a small amount of sulfur in bottling. He inevitably views the region through a different lens. He became particularly passionate about very old plantings scattered here and there in the Dão. Everyone agrees that the grapes there are of exceptional quality, but most local producers don't see the point anyway. You will hardly find plots with several hectares of surface area. However, almost every family has a small plot with a few hundred vines. It is among these mini-plants that the pearls are to be found, so that is where Antonio goes treasure hunting.
This Palhete Ainda is another such wine from a field blend of 40 different grapes from old vines and purchased grapes. Ainda means 'yet' or 'still' This wine shows sweet berry aromas with some floral cherry notes. Pure, vivid and quite intense with lovely cherry and berry fruit. So this is quite full-bodied with lots of lovely fruit.
