In the words of the oenologist Paulo Nunes: This minimalist wine of great elegance, made from vines more than 80 years old, aims to translate its entire terroir, undergoing as little human intervention as possible. The interesting fact is that the vines are all mixed and the winery doesn't know what kind of grape each plant produces. It is only known that there are about 30 different species in this part of the country. It has an intense ruby color with violet reflections. On the nose it is intense with pronounced notes of black fruit, chocolate, spices and vanilla. On the palate it has a medium body, a lot of balance and elegance. Long and tasty finish.
Dão, one of the most classic wine regions in Portugal, has entered a new phase. Young winemakers have broken with the drying, often oxidized style of the previous generation and now create elegant, world-class wines on the Dão's characteristic granite soil.
Located in Lagarinhos, at the foot of the Serra da Estrela, Casa da Passarella was founded in 1892, prior to the demarcation of the Dão region, which dates back to 1908. Since its foundation, it has been one of the most emblematic wineries in Portugal become. The first bottling record dates from 1893.
