The Evel is considered a typical reference to Douro wines, ruby red in color and powerful varieties of aromas of ripe red fruit, notes of vanilla and nuances of wood. A very full wine, harmonious, round, excellent acidity and delicious persistent aftertaste

The Evel red wine is produced from vines planted at Quinta das Carvalhas, Quinta dos Aciprestes and Quinta Cidro, located at in Pinhão, Tua and Vale do São João da Pesqueira, the area traditionally known for its beautiful Port, but where one is also produces excellent still wines. The first two locations enjoy a warm, structured and elegant climate, while Quinta Cidro benefits from a cool climate that, thanks to the slow ripening of the grapes, gives an aromatic wine with soft tannins.
The name Evel is derived from the anagram "Leve" which means light in Portuguese. This indicates that these wines have a delicate and, nowadays, higher, light character. This is in contrast to the traditional heavy Portuguese wines. A wine that recommends better restaurants in Portugal and that is also the favorite wine for state banquets.
