Fonseca Terra Prima Reserva is a Ruby style Organic Port Wine of the Douro Region. It features concentrated ripe black fruit aromas, as fresh violets scents, cherries, and ripe plums aromas. It shows balsamic fragrances, elegance, and dried structure, with an outstanding harmony among its ripe fruit bouquet and its acidity.
Food-Pairing
A perfect match for chocolate and berry fruit dishes. Chocolate fondant with strawberries makes a wonderfully hedonistic combination, the rich creamy chocolate and luscious ripe strawberries mix seductively with the blackcurrant and cherry fruitiness. Delicious after a meal with bitter chocolate with a high cocoa content or a plate of chocolate brownies and truffles. Like all young red Port wines, it is an excellent match for soft mature cheeses.
Grapes: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Tinto Cão.
Fonseca Terra Prima Reserva Organic is a Ruby Port wine produced from organic and autochthonous red grapes varieties of Old Vines such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, and Tinto Cão. The grapes were foot trodden in granitic Lagares and after a long maceration, the fermentation process took place at controlled temperatures. When the wine had achieved the sweetness desired the wine spirit (Aguardente), was added to stop the fermentation. The wine was then transferred to oak vats where it has stayed for an average period of 4-5 years old, prior to being bottled.

Critic tasting note: "(2020) Unusual to find an organic Port, and this has a very pure and fruit-driven nose, a nice lift and higher set of aromas, floral and ashy. Very silky and pure on the palate, a sheen of mellow old oak and shellac over pure and vibrant fruit. Tangy and ripe, lots of lip-smacking tannin and acidity in the long finish. A really terrific ruby." - Tom Cannavan
