A white wine with more exotic tropical fruits than the Mercado dos Lavradores in Madeira. Tight, reductive nose with some matchstick notes and lovely minerality. Complex and expressive. The palate is crisp and minerally with lovely depth and intensity. Will age well.
Real craftsmanship and an exciting well-made wine. This is the type of wine that makes you think and starts to wonder why you are still worried. Primus is Latin for "first". To say it in the words of Barry White, "this is our first, our last, our everything"!
Álvaro and Maria Castro are, in our humble opinion, Dão's best winemakers and we are not alone with this vision. This is their TOP white wine: a blend of almost every Portuguese grape variety that is conceivable, hand-picked and from 65-year-old vines that grow on granite soil. Gloriously supple, strikingly fresh, perfectly integrated oak and more balanced than a Weeble
Food-Pairing
Delicious with seafood, quiche fresh from the oven, goat cheese roasted in the oven or simply as an aperitif or just like that
Grapes: Encruzado, Malvasia, Cercial & others
Fermentation in new 400L French oak barrels. The barrels are then stored in a cool environment, so the fermentation takes place very slowly over a period of 3 months. Slow fermentation favours the development of a complex aromatic structure.
Ripening
. Maturing is mainly done in the bottle. Alvaro Castro insists on bottling almost immediately after fermentation, he is convinced that this guarantees the desired high conservation potential.
