While red wine is often paired with red meat or cheese, other combinations can be equally tasty. However, powerful red wines with tannins, fatty and carbohydrate-rich dishes are said to be smoother and more flavourful. Certain lighter red wines can also be combined well with powerful or spicy vegetarian, fish or meat dishes. Red wine is often drunk at room or cellar temperature, but here too the type of wine and personal taste determine the choice for a temperature.
