The intense colour, dark red fruit aromas, and floral and spicy notes on the palate define this wine. Quinta Vale D. Maria Vinha da Francisca is the brand's most awarded wine, collecting a range of prestigious honors. It is an exuberant wine, with an intensity of color, tannins, and fruit that captivates, offering a persistence that leaves no one indifferent. This is the personality of the young vineyard, on its way to achieving the energy of maturity, expressive, already with so much to say, and one that has won over many audiences.

Since 1996, our first harvest at Quinta Vale D. Maria, we have noticed unique characteristics in every vineyard plot. Every vineyard has its own story to tell. In 2004, the year of our daughter Francisca's 18th birthday, we planted the vineyard of Francisca with the old and trusted grape varieties, Tinta Francisca (first caste planted in Portugal in the Douro in 1756 on Quinta de Roriz - Quinta da famíla of Zeller until 2009), with Touriga Franca, Sousão, Rufete and Touriga Nacional. The vineyard is 4.5 hectares

From a different vineyard comes a distinctly unique wine. Next to the older vines, a young vineyard emerges, spanning 4.5 hectares facing south and southeast, planted in 2004 by Cristiano van Zeller in tribute to his daughter Francisca, who was then turning 18. This vineyard does not encompass an array of grape varieties like its ancestors and neighbors. It has only five in its DNA – those we believe best reflect a unique and elegant profile of the Douro: Tinta Francisca, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Rufete, and Sousão.
