Alentejo - Adega Mayor

Our history began in 1997 with the planting of the first vineyards in Herdade da Godinha and three years later in Herdade das Argamassas

In 2007 we opened the doors of Adega Mayor, an old dream of Rui Nabeiro, the fruit of his great passion for wines and his land, Campo Maior. In 350 hectares of granite soils and a temperate climate, a prestigious team creates fresh and elegant wines full of personality that transcend borders and conquer wine enthusiasts across the four continents. The oenologist on duty is Rui Reguinga. World-renowned architect Siza Vieira was asked to construct the wine cellar. More than twenty regional, national and international grape varieties live together on the estate, a range of alchemical variations that result in extraordinary wines. A tour that starts with the Caiado wines - white, red and rosé. Young wines, very gastronomic. Regularly win prizes at Wine Master Challenge, International Wine and Spirits Competition, International Wine Challenge and Mundus Vini.

The wines of Adega Mayor are also very successful abroad. The Reserva Tinto, a blend of Aragonês, Touriga Nacional and Alicante Bouschet, reveals a deep aroma with hints of blueberries, ripe plums and dark chocolate. Very balanced on the palate, it exhibits polished tannins and a long and persistent finish. Verdelho, Arinto and Antão Vaz are used to make complex white wines.

Some elegant and refined mono-cépages also join the range - a red wine based on Touriga Nacional, a white wine based on Verdelho and a rosé from Pinot Noir.

In just a decade, Adega Mayor has proven to be a master of the art of winemaking. The exclusive and elegant portfolio, recognized by the wine critics and exported to the four continents, reveals the best that Alentejo has to offer and fulfills an old dream of its founder.
