João Portugal Ramos is Portugal's most famous wine producer

In 1990 he decided it was time to start creating his own wine in the vineyards in Alentejo, Adega Vila Santa. The positive result did not wait a long time. Soon his wines received a big boost and he extended his vineyards to locations in Tejo, Beiras and the Douro.

His most recent project is a fresh and fruity Vinho Verde, called Lima, as a tribute to the iconic river that runs through the area.

Ramos is winner of many awards including "Personality of the Year (2010)", "Producer of the Year" (2006 - Essencia do Vinho), "Wine Team of the Year" (2010), "Winemaker of the Year" ), "Enterprise of the Year" (Revista de Vinhos - 1998), "Winemaker of the Year" (1999 & 2004), "Producer of the Year" (Vin & Mat, Sweden-2004); "Newcomer of the Year" (Wein Gourmet, Germany - 2004), and in 2008 the award for "Entrepreneurship and Innovation" awarded by the Portuguese Ministry of Agriculture.
