Quinta de S. João Batista
The origin of Quinta de S. João Batista about stories of noble succession, donations to religious orders and many other events.
It was acquired in 1987 by Caves Dom Teodósio (a company that later became part of the Enoport Wines Group) and since then much has been invested in restructuring vineyards, replacing old vines.
Located in the Paul do Boquilobo Biosphere Reserve, recognized by UNESCO since 1981 as a World Biosphere Reserve, the Quinta with a total area of approximately 145 hectares of which 130 hectares are vineyards and equipped with 585 barrels, is one of the largest in the region of the Tagus. In the vineyard you will find traditional Portuguese varieties such as Castelão, Trincadeira Preta, Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca, as well as several international varieties such as Syrah, Alicante Bouschet and Cabernet Sauvignon. Fernão Pires, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay were planted to make the white wines.
