When Sogrape acquired the winery, a beautiful property in the municipality of Mangualde (northern Dão), next to Nelas and Alcafache, in 1988, the project to revolutionize the region would become a historic milestone in Dão's viticulture. This beautiful and modern property, located in the municipality of Mangualde, has the best regional grape varieties: Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Alfrocheiro, Jaen, Tinta Pinheira, Encruzado, Assario, Verdelho, Bical and Cerceal. and together with Alvaro Castro of Quinta de Saes was one of the founders of the revival of the Dão.

Quinta dos Carvalhais is a reference in the Portuguese wine world, producing only superior Dão wines from its own grapes. With a total area of 260 hectares, there are only 124 vineyards. This wine is the benchmark for best practice in the Portuguese wine industry.

Quinta dos Carvalhais produces quality wines that defy the wilderness from which they sprang and the granite that makes up their soul, yet reveal themselves as soft and elegant. They defy time, mature for years and then bring the best that the Dão has to offer, because these are refined wines. In addition, the wines reflect an oenologist's passion for the art of winemaking, expressing all their splendor.
