During the 20th century and until the 21st century, the Symington family watched over DOWs, building on the legacy of the previous families Silva and Dow.

Generations Symington winemakers have collaborated with DOW's Quinta do Bomfim and Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira and have thus created the typical style and special quality of DOW. The attractive and distinctive drier finish of DOW is the recognizable characteristic of the wines of this fantastic porthouse

Dow's Port Lodge is not accessible to visitors, but Dow's sister company, Graham's (owned by the same family that owns Dow's), has an excellent visitor center at the lodge with guided tours and a very well-equipped shop with Dow's port wines
